Fret Tamer – Spot Levelling Tool

Made in Wiltshire, UK

A compact, precision 3-point fret leveller designed for quickly correcting individual high frets without needing to level the entire fretboard.

Perfect for guitar techs, luthiers, and players who do their own tech.

What It Does

  • Bridges three frets, sanding only the raised middle fret.

  • Uses sandpaper strips (work up from 400 grit)

  • Lets you isolate and correct single high spots.

  • Helps eliminate fret buzz and dead notes in minutes.

Features

  • Made from Carbon-fibre infused plastic; strong, stiff, heat-resistant, and dimensionally stable for accurate fret work.

  • 4-sided with grooves for sandpaper to work along the whole fretboard.

  • Designed for standard sandpaper strips (work up from 400 grit).

  • Stable, ergonomic shape for controlled back-and-forth motion.

  • Printed from rigid, dimensionally-stable material for consistent results.

  • Compact size—fits in any workshop and on any tool shelf

How to Use

  1. Identify the high fret with a fret rocker (not included).

  2. Insert a strip of sandpaper into the groove.

  3. Place the Fret Tamer with the sandpaper on the high fret.

  4. Sand lightly with short, controlled strokes.

  5. Work slowly and re-check often with your fret rocker

  6. Once level, check the neighboring frets to see if lowering the first fret made a new high fret, and repeat 1-5 for this fret

  7. Once the board is level, use finer sandpaper, fret rubbers (not included) or polish (not included) to restore the frets to a smooth glossy shine - if worried about scuffing the fretboard, use masking tape
